Research
The following are some of the studies that have been carried out and are currently being worked on.
1. Semantic Linguistics
A word in Japanese, basically only has one meaning which is the basic meaning. This first meaning is the main meaning that came when the word was created. However, along with the development of language, a word can have another meaning from the basic meaning. Factors that lead to the emergence of new meanings, one of which is the behavior of language users who want it. The emergence of a new meaning of a word is called the expansion of meaning. This phenomenon has become one of the study materials in our Semantic Linguistics research.
2. Sociolinguistics/Discourse Analysis
The language behavior performed by people in a particular community can be motivated by the social and cultural conditions of that community. The Sundanese way of apologizing when they make a mistake, may be a little different from the Mongols. The topic of discussion raised by the Japanese during the first conversation may be different from the topic presented by the Javanese in Indonesia. Discussions that explore the behavior of certain people in terms of language use are studied in Sociolinguistic research as a branch of Linguistics. In more detail, we carried out this research from the Discourse Analysis approach, which was to examine the language behavior of the discourse conveyed by speakers of the language.
